Guide: Hiroko Kitagou, Yoko Takano
Route: Imperial Palace – Asakusa – Ueno (Tokyo National Museum); Tokyo Metropolitan Government building – Shinjuku Gyoen – Meiji Shrine

My husband, Alan, and I cannot say enough good things about Tokyo Free Guide. Both of the guides met us at our hotel each morning with a plan for the day.Hiroko made sure we understood how to use the subway system and without her I don’t know if we would have figured out we could ride JR lines free with our Japan Railpass.  She arranged for a bus tour for us in the area near the Imperial Palace which helped us get a better idea of our surroundings. We ate lunch near the Senjoji Temple where I had shabu-shabu for the first time and Alan had tempura. We had been reluctant to go into restaurants before this because we couldn’t read the menus but Hiroko showed us what to do and it made such a difference the rest of the trip. By spending time with Hiroko, we learned so much about Buddhist and Shinto shrines and temples. Read the rest of this entry »

April, 2009
Guide: Mitsuharu Tada
Route: Tsukiji – Ueno & TFG HANAMI PARTY 2009 @ Shinjuku Gyoen park

Dear Tokyo Free Guide,

Thank you Mr. Tada for guiding me around Tsukiji and Ueno. I enjoyed that my guide took the time to get to know what things I liked so that he could plan a day I would enjoy. I learned a lot and had a fun day.

I especially had a great time at the Hanami Party 2009. The guides were all so happy to meet all of the guests and share their culture with us. They were all very friendly and I had a great experience. The atmosphere was very comfortable, the company was great, and the cherry blossoms were beautiful!

Thank you again for your service!
Pam

TFG Hanami Party 2008

On April 5, we had a hanami party at Shinjuku Gyoen park. Hanami is the Japanese traditional outdoor party beneath the cherry trees. The party had 36 participants and turned out to be a lot of fun.

Here are some comments from our guests:

Me and my girlfriend have spent some very great moments at the hanami party in the Gyoen park in shinjuku! we met a lot of tourists and guides and it was one of the best moments of our trip in Japan. Thanks to Yuji (our guide) for all that he did for us, we never forget his kindness! I recommend you Tokyo Free Guide: they are serious, helpful and very kind, don’t hesitate, contact them!
Jocelyn and Sandrine from France.

Many thanks for your warm hospitality and your amazing organization.
I always mention you when I report about my trip in Japan. All my friends and my colleagues are really surprised how Japanese people are so kind and friendly.
Giorgio from Italy.
