Guide: Michiko Yamawaki
Route: Tea ceremony at Hotel Okura – Shinbashi
My girlfriend and I had one of the best experiences thanks to our guide Michiko. We began our tour with a warm welcome and a quick preview of our tour. Machiko was a wealth of knowledge and explained all of our questions without hesitation.
We began our tour with a quick preview of the subway system, while heading to a traditional tea ceremony. We arrived at the facility which I believe was the Okura Hotel. We were greeted by our host, who’s name eludes me now, and were explained the proper ritual practices. The tea ceremony was interesting. It shows the devotion to ritual as well as the honor that goes along with it’s tradition. We were treated as if we were at home. I gave many gracious thanks to our host and we left with a feeling of fulfillment.
Unfortunately we were pressed for time and had to cut our tour short BUT we did the next best thing, lunch. Michiko took us to this great little restaurant were we at dishes that made our mouths water just by looking at the menu. It was a wonderful experience and when we return to Japan we would love Michiko to be our tour guide.
Thank You TFG and Michiko Yamawaki for making our tour so memorable.

Hello to all TFG members:
We would like to thank to TFG and, especially, to our guides Chinami and Ichiro, for give us the opportunity to visit Tokyo with them. It was a wonderful way to discover the city and enjoy it.
We’re a family who always wanted to visit Japan. We finally could this year and, after visiting Tokyo with Chinami and Ichiro, we’re sure we’re gonna come back again.
Chinami and Ichiro made our visit to Tokyo unforgettable. We were more than happy with their kindness and friendliness. We had lot of fun and thank to them we keep wonderful memories of Tokyo.
They took us to places we had never reach by ourselves, specially Kagurazaka (a very nice place to visit with no many people & tourist and really beautiful old narrow streets), Fukagawa temple and Tomiokahachimangu Shrine, two special places celebrating party days.
If you sometime decide to visit Spain and Balearic Islands, we will be pleased to be your guides.

I write to thank Tokyo Free Guide for arranging at very short notice an excellent guide, Miss Naomi Ishiwatari. My wife and I came to Tokyo to attend a medical conference during the period 13 -16 November, 2008 and we only had Saturday evening and Sunday for sightseeing and to enjoy some of the delights of Tokyo. Miss Ishiwatari, despite having to work on Saturday made time to show some parts of Tokyo that evening and then spent most of Sunday, until quite late, guiding us around. Despite rain, we had an excellent time and definitely saw many parts of Tokyo, that my wife and I would have had difficulty finding. In addition, we also sampled some of the excellent food that local Japanese eat. In summary, Naomi was a friendly, helpful and extremely generous person.
Enclosed are two photos taken with Naomi.
Thank you for an excellent service. I will definitely recommend Tokyo Free Guide to my friends.

I wanted to thank Tokyo Free Guide ~ and our amazing tour guide Kyoko ~ for our incredible day in Tokyo. Kyoko took us to many places off the beaten path, taught us how to use the subway, showed us where the best restaurants were and even showed us how to make origami cranes. After travelling for 3 months in Asia, both my wife and I agreed that our 5 or 6 hours with Kyoko were some of the best of the entire vacation.
Thank you so much for this great service.

Route: Hamrikyu Gardens – Harajuku
I had the pleasure of the company of Noriko-san who guided me around parts of Tokyo last October. Using emailed photos she organized the exact meeting point for us in the busy Tokyo Station before taking me to the picturesque Hamrikyu Gardens where we happened upon the Tokyo Grand Tea Ceremony. During our walk I learned about traditional kimonos, tea serving etiquette and was able to chat with Noriko (whose English, incidentally, was excellent). As we left we came across some lovely Geisha who were on their way to the tea ceremony! Noriko quickly organized a photo of them with me. We then walked through the hectic Ginza bling to catch a JR train to Harajuku. Being a Sunday, the Gothloli were preening and posing on their plaza. We took a few snaps on our way to the impressive Meji Shrine where we offered a prayer and saw a number of wedding parties taking photos of some very handsome newlyweds. Leaving the shrine we again passed through the Gothloli throng which by this time had doubled in size. We walked down one of the busy shopping streets where we saw a noisy Halloween parade. For a late lunch Noriko took me to a kaiseki ?style restaurant called Mocuchi. The wonderful Japanese food and casual-chic-jazz decor complemented my authentic Tokyo city experience perfectly.
I would like to say a big “Thank you!” to Noriko and TFG for their gracious service.

Route: Asakusa – Ueno
In the middle of October I had the good fortune to be guided by Masa-san for half a day. He was kind enough to make the trip in from outside Tokyo, meet me at the Tokyo Station and show me how to navigate the subway to get to my hotel in Asakusa. After waiting a short while for me to drop my bags Masa took me to see the Nakemise dori and the Asakusa Sensoji Buddhist Temple. We then went on to the peaceful Ueno Park and explored the surrounding shopping district where we had dinner. Along the way I discovered that I had a problem with my credit card. Masa was very patient and insisted on helping me to sort out my cash flow problem so that I could enjoy my last days in Tokyo. He also made sure I made it all the way back to my hotel even though it would have been out of his way home. Thanks to Masa I had a very nice afternoon and a pleasant evening.?
Thank you to Masa and the TFG team for your very friendly service!?

Tsukiji Fish Market – Asakusa Sensoji – Ameyoko – Akihabara
Dear Tokyo Free Guide,
We had a wonderful time with our guide, Naomi Ishiwatari, who brought us around in Tokyo on 25th Oct during our trip there. We visited the Tsukiji Fish Market, Sensoji temple at Asakusa, Ameyoko Market and Akihabara.
She was very knowledgable, friendly and we really enjoyed her company. She also helped us to search for something which we wanted to buy in Akihabara by asking many people for directions and we really appreciate all the trouble she went to help us find the item. Without her, we would not know which train to take to the different places and what to see. She even bought us souvenirs at the fish market which was very sweet of her.
I would definitely recommend Tokyo Free Guide to any visitor who wants to visit Tokyo. Thanks to the team (especially Naomi) for making our stay there so enjoyable!
Guide: Mitsuyo Fujiwara
Route: Tsukiji Market – Ginza – Imperial Palace – Tokyo Tower
Dear Tokyo Free Guide,
We would like to thank your organization for providing excellent service. The website is very important and contains a lot information about travelling in Tokyo.
Our guide was Mitsuyo Fujiwara. She was terrific. She helped us learn transportation map, find our way out, and arranged other tour so that we can travel on our own. She wanted to make sure we saw everything we wanted to see. Even before we arrived, she was extraordinarily kind and helpful. Not only she was fast to reply to our email, but she was very detailed in answering all questions. She did research and composed a list of inexpensive hotels for us. We learnt about Japanese culture and life. We were lucky to have one of your guide and would recommend anyone coming to Tokyo. We had a wonderful time.
Thanks to Mitsuyo for all of her guide. We look forward to our next visit to Japan.
